Tattoo Aftercare:

how i take care my tattoo

A fresh ladies tattoos or man tattoos is to be considered as a skin wound in the first few days and accordingly must be handled with it.In this article you get information about how to take care of new tattoo.

IMPORTANT
Important: the wound must heal and an infection must be avoided!

How I take care of tattoo:

Already in the tattoo studio, my fresh custom tattoo is supplied with a foil dressing at the end of my tattoo session. I will leave this bandage on my tattoo until the evening. The tattoo was until then provided optimally by the tattoo artist, so this is possible without hesitation. In the evening, I take off the foil bandage and wash my

Afterwards I dry my tattoo. I do this best with carefully, not too scratching towel. Now I apply cream on my fresh tattoo skin with a healing ointment. Here I can use a Phantenol cream, which is also available in every pharmacy. In the last step, I put on a new, fresh foil bandage. The tattoo artist himself has resorted to a commercial cling film in the studio, which is available in every supermarket.

With my freshly groomed foil bandage, I can now go to bed without worry and with pleasure about my new tattoo.

The next morning, the whole thing is repeated to ensure a new, germ-free film dressing. So, the old bandage is removed, my tattoo is washed, a wound healing cream is applied thinly and again a fresh foil bandage is created. This can then be worn until the evening.

Important

Especially in warm summer months or in general activities that result in increased sweat, it is recommended to renew the film dressing about 1-2 times during the day.

If the wound under the foil bandage sweats too much, heat and moisture form. This results in a so-called moist wound chamber, which carries an increased risk of infection. It is therefore important to pay close attention to this during the period of wearing a film dressing.

In the evening, the foil bandage will be renewed as in the previous times, so that I can go to bed protected and optimally supplied. The next morning I remove the bandage one last time, wash my tattoo clean and take care of it with a wound healing cream. A new foil association will no longer be created.

Now it is only necessary to wash and cream regularly. How often you cream your tattoo depends on your skin type. Once the tattoo feels dry, itches or tense, thinly provide with wound healing cream. It is no longer necessary to wash the tattoo before applying tattoo cream, but make sure that your hands are clean before you apply cream on your tattoo.

What happens during the healing of my fresh tattoo?

As already mentioned, a freshly stung tattoo is to be equated with a skin wound. In this case, the top skin layer is damaged and needs to regenerate. So a new skin layer is formed. This manifests itself in the formation of a crust, which can sometimes be more or less provoke, and this crust will gradually decrease during the healing phase. (When exactly the crusting begins and how long it lasts is also different from skin type to skin type.) In the process, the whole thing is synonymous with a strong sunburn, in which the skin like a snake skin and under it is then the regenerated skin.

In the first few weeks after new skin formation, it is good to see that the tattoo or the skin shines silvery on the spot. This means the newly formed skin is still very fresh and thin. This should no longer be cared for with a wound healing cream, but with a body lotion. The skin is still very dry at this time and requires a lot of care.

After about 4-6 weeks, the skin is completely regenerated and the tattoo is completely healed. Should a second session be needed to complete an untapped tattoo, this would be possible.

Generally during the healing phase is to be considered.

In the first days, so long until a crust has formed, it has fallen off and the wound is completely closed:

no saunas, no solarium, no direct sunlight, no dust, no dirt, no scrubbing clothes, no scouring of the crust and no bath. (Of course, you can take a shower at any time during the healing phase, but the freshly tattooed tattoo or the crust that appears later should not be soaked with an extensive bath, which would significantly delay the healing process.)

If you stick to these things, you will have a lot of fun with your new tattoo!

However, if at any time an infection occurs or heals your tattoo for your unexplainable reasons not optimal, you can contact to tattoo professional at any time, or in the case of very great uncertainty, you should, of course, visit a doctor of your confidence.

Have fun and thanks for reading
